The Legacy

As The Mobile Oilfield Learning Unit was introduced over 20 years ago by the Offshore Energy Center, this technology engaged students directly to the energy industry through hands-on STEM education and provided early exposure to oil and gas concepts, as well as career path exploration before students reached high school. Our previously updated Mobile Energy Learning Unit (MELU) program featured interactive STEM modules for an enhanced curriculum, targeted for middle school education. 

The Next Generation

The Energy Education Foundation is proud to announce a new chapter in our educational advocacy: EnergyXP. A fully redesigned, interactive educational experience with upgraded technology systems, curriculum enhancements, and app integration. This next generation mobile lab will help support students across the country to explore real-world energy concepts and careers, forever changing the foundation of energy education.

The Student Experience

Through EnergyXP, students engage in a collection of 16 hands-on and digital STEM activities aligned to national educational standards. These interactive experiences introduce students to diverse energy concepts while promoting curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Each activity connects learning to real-world applications in energy science. This innovative program is designed to strengthen foundational STEM skills and inspire the next generation of energy professionals by showcasing the relevance of energy in everyday life.
